September 2007

After going back to work in late August, September brought a few changes, mainly the daily visits from our nanny Paige and our interim nanny Zue. Molly Cate loved both of them and they did a great job playing with her while Jay and I tried to concentrate on jobs. Paige took some great pictures during the day so that we could see what fun they were having. Daily strolls to the park were also on the agenda.

August 2007

Since I have not posted in a year, I am going to try to recap what we did this past year as documented in pictures.

In August, we took another trip to Ruston and went swimming. Also, in August, we had a visit from Aunt Libby and cousin Mary-Margaret. They came to Dallas with Mrs. Manning, Ashley, and Margaret. Libby and Ashley took Mrs. Manning to see the Paula Deen show and I spent the day with the girls (Mary-Margaret, Margaret, and Molly Cate) at the Galleria. Yes, ALL DAY at the Galleria. We arrived at about 9:30am and left at about 10:00 pm. The next day we all went to Mass then to Brunch at Cafe Brazil.

Also, in August, I went back to work. If it weren't for a particular "Murphy Bwon" episode playing on TVLand as I walked out of the door, the morning would have gone off without a hitch. As it was, I left the house in tears.

At the end of the month, Jay had to go out of town so Mimi came in town to help out for a few days.

Molly Cate's Room

Molly Cate's room is coming together (only 2 months after she was born). Gran and Mimi made some curtains for her since her room is nearly all windows. Mimi and PopPop bought her a new chest of drawers and the baby bedding. And Aunt Libby and Uncle Rodney provided the crib which has its own stories to tell providing sleeping quarters for both Matthew and Mary-Margaret. We spend many hours in the room playing on the play gym and dancing to music. Susanna gave us a great Dan Zanes CD, which has provided us with hours of singing and dancing time, so many hours, that Daddy, who offices in the next room, is pleased to announce that he knows EVERY word.

A few nights ago, Jay got out his banjo and was picking away as he is prone to do. We had Molly in her crib and she was kicking happily away (as she is prone to do). Jay thought it would be fun to pick the banjo at the tempo she was kicking. It was so much fun to watch, as if Molly had her own soundtrack. As she kicked faster, the banjo got faster, then she slowed down and so did the banjo. A kid and a banjo...instant entertainment

Jay and I decided that we needed to get out of the house last night and being that it was a nice night, we decided to go out to eat somewhere walkable. We walked to Matt's Rancho Martinez last Friday and Molly seemed to enjoy the stagnant Dallas July air, so we thought "why not?". We went to the same Thai food restaurant (see first post). She was quite pleasant during the ride over there and we had several comments from neighbors wanting to stop and look at her as we stolled by. However, as soon as we got inside the restaurant and parked the buggy at the table...small whimpers. The small whimpers turned into big wails by the end of the meal and we found ourselves jogging home with her in the stroller to get her to calm down (which she did after about a block of jogging). East Dallas sidewalks can make for a perilous journey after dark, so we really had to slow down to navigate the minefield on the way back home. This was a 2nd trip with her (not counting the pre-natal visit) and both times she has found the experience unpleasant. It's almost as if she remembers the trauma that ensued the day after her first visit there in May.
